Clevite A-Series Rod Bearings

More and more manufacturers have shifted to aluminum bearings in their OE engines and Clevite AL-Series rod bearings are designed to be the highest-quality replacement bearings in the industry. They carry on the tradition and reputation that Clevite has built throughout the course of time. AL Series engine bearings feature a 100 percent lead-free aluminum silicon bi-metal material, which includes 60 percent more silicon than the leading competitor's bi-metal material for better conditioning of journal surfaces. These bi-metal bearings also offer greater wear resistance than the leading competitor's bi-metal material, as well as greater seizure resistance. Clevite AL-Series bearings feature 100 percent bored inside diameters for precision and surface characteristics and, where appropriate, straight-shell main bearings utilizing an "umbrella" groove that allows for superior oil control and improved pressure.

 

Clevite P-Series Rod Bearings

P-Series rod bearings are the oldest members of the Clevite 77 performance bearing family. They're intended for high-revving engines, especially those where the high rpm cause the rod bores to narrow. To compensate for this distortion, these direct replacements have higher eccentricity and a high crush factor. Clevite P-Series rod bearings are built on hardened-steel backings with extra-thin overlays, and their lower sections have dowel holes for use with aluminum rods.

 

Clevite H-Series Rod Bearings

Clevite H-Series rod bearings were developed primarily for use in NASCAR type racing but are suitable for all types of competition engines. These H-Series bearings have a medium level of eccentricity, high crush factor, and have hardened steel backs and thin overlays. They also have enlarged chamfers for greater crankshaft fillet clearance and are made without flash plating for better seating.

H-Series bearings are recommended for use with crankshafts that have oversize fillets and where engines run in the medium to high rpm range. They should also be used if contact patterns obtained with Clevite P-Series bearings are too narrow. Contact patterns should ideally cover 2/3 to 3/4 of the bearing surface.
